Improvisation for the Actor

with Second City alum Samantha Albert

Thinking quickly on your feet as an actor is more than a commodity – it’s a necessity!

With the advent of shows like THE OFFICE and PARKS AND RECREATION, harnessing the fundamentals of improvisation gives you a tremendous advantage in the audition room and on set.

Each week, Second City alum Sam Albert will take students through a series of games and exercises to help develop the improviser in each actor. In addition to these exercises, a portion of each class is devoted to real life audition and on set situations where improvisation may be required.

Begin to silence the inner critic and trust in the ability to make things up on the spot! Become a more organic, in-the-moment performer –with or without a script! Learn the skills that helped actors like Steve Carrell and Tina Fey grow their careers – and have fun doing it!

ABOUT THE COACH:

SAMANTHA ALBERT

SAMANTHA ALBERT is an alumnus of The Second City in Chicago where she co-wrote and performed in 4 award-winning sketch comedy revues, all developed primarily through improvisation. Since her arrival in Los Angeles three years ago Sam has appeared in THE INFORMANT, where she gets to yell at the hunky Matt Damon and THE GOODS, where she gets yelled at by the hunky Jeremy Piven. Other film and television credits include THE BREAK-UP, a recurring role on PARKS AND RECREATION, THE OFFICE and several webisodes for The Second City Network. She is thrilled to have the opportunity to share the joy of improvisation with others and sincerely hopes she is able to impart a deep love and respect for this wonderful art form to her students.
